Concept
The BEEP project is a bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Power, Government of India and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) of the Swiss Confederation. The goal is to reduce energy consumption in new commercial buildings, and to disseminate best practices for the construction of low energy residential and public buildings in India. To achieve these goals, an integrated design approach is needed. The team consists of experienced engineers, architects, research scientists and government officials in the sustainable energy sectors.
Essential components of the project are the “charrettes”- three-day interactive workshop bringing together design team (clients, architect, landscape architect, engineers…) and senior experts (highly experienced Swiss and Indian architects and engineers) to develop energy concept for the proposed buildings.
Realization
During the Charrettes held, dynamic energy simulations estimate the energy saving potential of proposed strategies, with continued technical support before and after the final design scheme. Examples include
TGBL Yeswanthpur Integrated Mixed Use Development, Bengaluru
53,000 m2 Commercial Building
Simulated Energy Save 30%
India International Institute of Democracy& Election Management, New Delhi
20,000m2 of Central Public Works Department
Simulated Energy Save 30%
