How will we build sustainable cities in the future?
2000WSCA presents a concept on TEDx Talk
The city of the future is a 2000-Watt Smart City. It consists of a grid of small but dense and well connected mixed use communities surrounded by nature. The concept was proven in Switzerland, is being tested in India, and will work anywhere, both in developed and in developing countries.
Greencity Zürich «Living Experience of Sustainability»
At the international real estate trade fair MIPIM 2021 in Cannes/France, the global real estate association FIABCI and the Swiss 2000-Watt Smart Cities Association (2000WSCA) celebrated the release of the video «Living Experience of Sustainability». The five-minute film shows the Greencity in Zurich, which serves as a model for many other sustainable and energy-saving neighbourhoods and cities around the globe.
An example for sustainability from Zurich …
The cooperation between FIABCI-SUISSE and 2000WSCA was established in June 2021. «With the help of the global association FIABCI International, there are rich opportunities for us to multiply the sustainability model, tested in Switzerland, on a global scale, » explains Andreas Binkert, President of 2000WSCA, on the occasion of the campaign launch. FIABCI-SUISSE President Thomas H. Henle adds: «We also want to encourage project and urban developers on the international stage to consider the criteria of the 2000-Watt philosophy. »
The now newly released video entitled «Living Experience of Sustainability» uses a number of case studies and the comments of many of those involved as well as residents and tenants of the Greencity site in Zurich to show how striving for and living with sustainability goals has concretely arrived in reality and how it can look like. «What we have succeeded in doing in Zurich can be implemented again in any other place in the world, » says Binkert. His particular focus is on emerging countries such as India or China. «Here, it is important to control the increasing energy consumption at an early stage - and if possible, to cap the increase. »
