Initial situation
Schindler Lifts owns a 80,000 m² industrial site on the outskirts of Ebikon. The Ron Valley is the most important expansion zone within the greater Lucerne area and is closely linked to its urban centre. Schindler wants to sell the site and have it developed in a sustainable manner. In partnership with the company, Nuesch Development developed a project to fulfil business, environmental and societal planning criteria in an optimal manner, opening a new dimension in quality of life for the community of Ebikon.

Concept
The Mall of Switzerland will be a kind of American dream world, but rooted deep in the heart of central Switzerland. Swiss cultural values like high quality architecture, preservation of nature and sustainability will nonetheless be a priority, while the site is as streamlined and functional as high-end malls in the USA. At the mall, visitors may marvel, dream and dive into a new shopping ambiance, which stimulates all senses. Trendy shopping, facilities for entertainment & cultural events, wellness & fitness, win & dine along with a hotel and apartments for the elderly are dressed around the central plaza called "EbiSquare", empathizing the high claim of the development for both international recognition and public acceptance by the local population.

Realization
Due to its favourable position between Lucerne and Zurich, ever more people live or work in the Ron Valley. Therefore an attractive offer of shopping, fitness & wellness and catering is required here to complement their daily life. In dialogue with these uses will be leisure, cultural and touristic offers, where both visitors from far and local families with children will be welcome. Ebikon and the surrounding communities will profit not only from the development of the public utilities, but will also experience a marked improvement in the quality of the location.
